World bee day

Bees are highly important. Globally, it is the world’s most important pollinator of food crops. It is estimated that one third of the food that we consume each day relies on pollination mainly by bees.

Nowadays, climate change, habitat loss, pollution and diseases are threatening our bees, which are vital to humans and the wider environment.

Some simple ways are:
Planting bee friendly plants like heather and daisies in gardens can help.
Leaving sections of the garden wild and letting the grass grow long gives the bees a place to shelter.
Leaving a small dish with a few pebbles and shallow water in can help if a bee is thirsty.
There are also special bricks which bees can live in.
No use of pesticides as they are really harmful to bees.
